Perceptions and Reported Use of Information Technology (IT) Anglicisms by Spanish University Students

This paper presents a twofold analysis that, on the one hand, is intended to examine presence of IT Anglicisms in contemporary Spanish digital press; other it aims reveal degree knowledge and use these English lexical items by sample speaking university students explore what their perceptions attitudes are towards ‒not only specialised contexts such as field, but also when dealing with current more general topics. The administration questionnaire 232 pupils studying various degrees two universities provided reliable data high level reported terms extracted from an search tool, ‘Observatorio Lázaro’. In addition, findings have shown open positive usage Anglicisms. Various pragmatic functions (expressive referential) seem motivate uses. Finally, some pedagogical implications this study discussed sphere ESP teaching/learning.
